I wouldnt doubt it. Your a whole lot closer to the source then we are here. Im sure some have made it over here but i bet they were in really bad shape or dead by the time they got here.
Yep this surely another hitch hiker again but it was in the LFS's tank bottom corner. i persuade the owner give it to me so i can raise it otherwise it will die in his tank.
I will start update it every month like my other thread so you guys can see how it grows.
To me it does. When i try to ID a clam the last thing i look at is the mantle. IDing a clam is all about the shell, shape of the shell, presents/lack of scutes and positioning/growth pattern of the scutes, number of vertical folds, size and shape of byssal opening.
Thanks Chris for your advises. I think the shell tell it is a squamosa but the mantle look a bit different this time.. i know it won't be a cross breed but do you have any cross breed before Chris?
Tridacnid's dont/cant cross breed. You'll see people from time to time claim to have a cross breed clam but they are just confused about the true ID of the clam. If clams had the ability to cross breed they would have morphed into one species long ago because they are broadcast spawners and their gametes would have mixed in the wild. There is no DNA evidence of cross fertilization either.
