can anyone tell me what this is?

i purchased a piece of live rock and at first i thought it was a snail shell that was stuck to the rock with coraline algae. although thats what it resembles, i was amazed to find later that what looks like a little slug or something was appearing out of the top and sending out what resembles a spider/silk web which it uses to catch food. it will suck it back in "chomping" on the particles that are stuck to it and send it back out again. it doesnt appear to harm anything, just curious, i guess. ive never seen anything like it and certainly havent seen one advertised for sale......

Hmm I can't really see in the picture, from what you are explaining it is a Vermetid Snail. Totally harmless.
