Clams all closed up

Postby skinz78 » Sat Jun 13, 2009 11:26 pm

I just got home, I have been working long hours out of town and then went to my friends house to watch the UFC fights tonite.

I came upstairs to look at my 12g for the first time in like 48 hrs and all of my clams are closed and 2 are dead. :banghead:

I am thinking maybe my clowns have been harassing them. I am going to move the clams back into my quarantine tank in the morning and get some params on the 12g. I am beat dead tired tonite so it will have to wait.

If they die I am going to stop trying to keep clams.

Whoa skinz, sorry to hear that. Do you have any temp, Sg or Alk results?

Tank some quick tests and see if its something obvious.

They look normal for the lights being off.

The weird thing is that I watched my bicolor blenny do some crazy swimming, jumping etc this morning and now he is dead.

I wonder if I am getting some stray voltage in the tank.

The fish wont feel any voltage unless its grounded.

Whats the ammonia level and whats the dkh?

I wouldn't move them until your sure something is wrong. Maybe the blenny was having a fit last night and caused all the clams to close

Ah ha good point Chris. I'll check the levels in a bit.

I wasn't going to move them until the lights come on and I can see what is going on. That is another 8 hrs.

Well all clams opened back up yesterday. but I don't think I am out of the woods yet.

I was loading up a log onto my sawmill yesterday with dads tractor and knocked myself silly. I had the log sitting on the mill and got off the tractor to unhook the chain. I walked under the loader and unhooked it and then turned to walk back to the tractor and move it out of the way. I walked right into the bucket with the top of my head. It dropped me like a sack of potato's. :dizzy: I got a 4" cut on top of my head.

So that put me out of commission for the night and I still haven't gotten any param's checked yet. I am going to get it done tonight when I get home
