Postby puffedupseagull » Sat Jun 20, 2009 9:37 pm

My clam has been fine, and the last day or two he is receding in like its collapsing.

I have moved it to the substrate. Will he survive, what do i need to do to help him recover???

Hi puffedupseagull , welcome to RAF

This does not look good. Can you give us a little more info about your tank, how long it's been up, test results from every test kit you have (including SG and temp) and all other inhabitants.

How long have you had the clam? Honestly i dont think there is much that can be done or your clam at this point but we may be able to help you figure out what happened and keep it from happening again.

What additives or other filtration media do you use?

i use nothing. i believe they are not beneficial to my system, because I use NSW on a very regular basis. This is always tested before added to the tank but.
Filtration is LR and sump with a dsb high flow etc. :banghead:

So you use no phosphate removing media?

Do you have any activated carbon you can add? If you do add it now, preferably in a reactor or canister filter and run the water as fast as you can.

Adding carbon wont hurt.

The clam looks pretty far gone at this point and there is not much time to try and figure out whats going on. I wish you would have posted two days ago when you first noticed something.

Im not so sure it PM. Squamosa's can contract PM but its not common, and i havent seen many cases of PM from AUS (you are from AUS right?)

yeah aus
It happened so quickly
Thought i would give him a couple days but it really went down hill quickly.
I'm devastated I love my clam.
He is still very reactive, so hopefully fingers crossed he recovers.
