How hardy is the candy cane coral

Postby BEANS » Thu Aug 27, 2009 9:14 pm

So I was moving around a few rocks, and some of my blue zoathids that broke off from the main group and while I was doing that the back of my hand bumped up against the candy cane corals. There are four heads and I know I touched / rubbed up against two of them. Afterward they changed shape a bit and kind of contracted. I didn't put a lot of pressure when I bumped them but it was enough to shake the stalk a little. Has anyone had any experience with accidently touching the polyp part of their candy canes? I'm just hoping I didn't damage or kill that head of the coral.

The coral should be fine, it just deflated "pumped out water" as a defense. It should be blown back up within a couple of hours.
