Posting photos on this forum

Postby chris&barb » Thu Oct 30, 2008 7:44 am

As some of you may have noticed posting large photos on this forum results in only part or a small section of the photo showing in the post. This software will only show a section of the photo that will fit in the posting area and will not expand. I really like this feature because i hate scrolling left and right and up and down just to look at a photo. And I especially hate scrolling around to read text on any page that has one of these large photos posted on it.

Photos sized around 800x 600 and 640x480 fit just right on here and most photo hosts have an option to resize your photos with just a click.

If you dont want to resize your photos then you can use the [rimg ] instead of the standard code and the photos wiil be automatically resized.

Step by step instructions on posting photos from photobucket

Plus when you post big photo's it takes much longer to download them, some people are turned off by this and won't view the whole post.

I have to agree too, and since we're on this topic, how do you post any pictures? I have failed all of my attempts to do so. Also why I have no avatar.

It is easy really just click on the Img icon above the post window. You will then get this prompt in the post window

You then take your photo's webpage and place it between the two img's and it will look like this but with no spaces

Done properly you will have a pic come up like this

Posting photos is pretty easy.

First get a hosting account at photoshack.com or photobucket.com or any other one.

Load the photo you want to your account.

Find the link in you account of the photo you want to post that says something like "Hot links for forums" and copy the link.

Then come back to the thread you want to post the photo into and paste the link

Most photo hosting sites have an option when you are uploading the photo to resize the photo to different sizes including avatars. Or you can use this to resize http://www.shrinkpictures.com/create-avatar/resize.php

Just delete this and it will work "NO%20SPACES%20HERE"%20%20%20 and at the end this %20%20"NO%20SPACES%20HERE"

OOPS I screwed up but you get the point, I quoted myself instead of editing.

On photobucket it is the tab that says direct link that you want to copy and paste here.

Using a photo host

The easiest way to post photos on this forum is to sign up with a photo host like www.photobucket.com or www.photoshack.com and load your photos there and then find the URL of your photo in that site (the one that says "for forums" or "for mesage boards") and then copy and past that URL into your post here. Make sure your photos are either 800x600 or 640x480 in size. You can resize them easily at the photo host site. If they are larger then this this site will chop off and we wont be able to see them.

Heres a tutorial on how to get your image from photobucket. If you look at the bottom of that page you will see "IMG images for message boards" thats the code you want to copy and paste in you post. http://tutorials.photobucket.com/tutorial_151.html

And here is a full set of tutorials on how to use photobucket http://tutorials.photobucket.com/#1
