Ok so I am doing some water tests tonite so I thought I would post my readings

I am doing 3 sets and will post readings in this order: live rock tub, 75g, and existing 120g to be torn down.

Po4 Salifert test: .25, .1, 0 this tank has my phosban reactor on it now.

Ammonia API test: .0, .0, .0

nitrite API test: 1.0, 0, 0

Nitrate API test: 5.0, 0, 0

The rest are just the 75g first and the 120g second. I saw no reason to check the live rock tub.

Magnisium Salifert test: 1320ppm, 1410ppm

Alk Salifert test: 9.6dkh, 7.4dkh, arrrg gotta raise this one.

Cal Salifert test: 440ppm, 500+ppm.

So I think I will wait a few more days to add the remainder of the live rock to the 75g from the curing tub. What do you all think?

i think i remember that you have a few fish in the tank already so i would wait untill the nitrites drop more before adding the rock. but you might be able to get away with adding one piece a day.

Well I only have one yellow damsel, and a few hermits. The damsel is getting yanked soon. But yeah, I plan on doing a few more water changes and then check the trates again before I add anymore.

If the majority of your live rock is from your old tank then i would wait untill your parameters are stable, if everything is new i would wait untill things mature.

I know that's kinda fuzzy but what im trying to say is that there are many things going on in our tanks other then the nitrogen cycle. You really are trying to create a whole ecosystem and there are no fast way around it.

If your not already doing so i would start doing water changes between the tanks.

I sold most of my old rock. I didn't like it, it mainly consisted of gulf rock wich is more like bolders.

My water company was putting alot of chlorine in the water. I just got my ro di unit before setting up the new tank, so I am affraid to put any of the water from the old tank into the new one.

I have almost all of my remaining old rock in the new tank now though.

What do you think on the water changes between tanks, should I do them anyway?

What is this growing in my zoa's, it looks like a red bubble algae or maybe a leather. it has bright red spots on it? It just appeared for the first time since I placed the rock in the new tank. I have had the rock for at least two years now. :?

LOL I just figured out how to use the macro setting on my camera, I have only had it for a year and a half.

i wouldn't worry about the chlorine to much. carbon will remove it pretty easily and if you haven't seen an effects from it yet i doubt its a problem.

i think it looks pretty cool, i would leave it for now.

It doesn't seem to upset the zoa's. I think it is growing pretty quick, I have never noticed it before I put the rock in there the other day. It is kinda soft and the red dots retracted when I touched it.

it sounds like a sponge. the only other thing i would think it is would be a colony tunicate but i doubt thats it. colony tunicates are usually much more organised and almost have patterns in their formation(think paisley)
