Well tonite while the site was down I actually took a lot of time and just sat and watched the tank. Something I don't do as often as I should.

I noticed that since I have removed the Phosban reactor I have little patches of hair algae sprouting up all over. I have seen a huge increase in algae on the glass as well. So the phosban reactor is going back on asap. :banghead:

It's amazing how the tank looks good in passing but when you sit down and look close you see areas like that

Its funny, if we spent as much time working on our tanks instead of yapping about them on the computer, what do you think they would look like

So last nite at 11 when we had a full boat of kids running amuck a few of them cornered me and started asking questions about this tank. Stuff like is that a snake, no that is a starfish. Is that an anemonie, no that is an urchin LOL and so on. So one of the questions is where is that fish's tail? Caught me off guard, I am thinking all my fish should have tails

So I say where, and the little girl who asked said right there hiding in the corner. Sure enough one of my big black Cardinal fish was hiding up there with absoulutely no tail left what so ever. I didn't get to check in on him today, lol pretty much slept all day.

I have nothing in there to my knowledge that could do this, is there any diseases that could be going on?

Is there something that could be picking on it?

The only other thing i can think of that would cause the fins to degenerate would be nutrition, but i think you would have noticed that already.

Nothing that I know of but I have two of them, maybe they are getting territorial. They are getting big, about 2" plus now.

Holy cow, I havn't updated this thread in quite a while.

Well as I am sure some of you may have heard that this tank has crashed. I lost nearly half of my corals, but only a few fish.

I have since taken all my corals out and placed them in my 40 gallon. All except these, I put the most damaged in my 20 gallon QT so they can recover.

Nope it is just sitting there doing it's thing with the fish and the live rock still in it. I still treat it as if it was still a complete reef, I just need to start fixing the problem. I have purchased some large Rubbermaid tubs to put the live rock and fish in while I reconstruct the setup.
