what is this? and how do I frag it?

Postby msbeanctr » Thu Jul 02, 2009 9:26 am

I have this coral and would like to frag it.

How do I frag it? Mainly where would I cut a chunk off? It's a little larger than my palm.

Oh, and what is this coral?

Thank you!!

Looks like a Montipora cap. Most people just grab a piece with their fingers and snap so off

if it was mine I would try and break it along that lip the shrimp is on. That way your just breakign the lip off and it will still look kind of normal. the lip is long enough you should be able to get 3-4 decent frags off it.

Your will look like that. If you look where the shrimp is you can see that its starting to fold over right now and if you look at 8 oclock about an inch in from the edge its also starting to plate out.

Naw....I'm waiting for you to get here and do it for me!

I ordered some fake rock from 'deep water rock' for the back of the tank. I'm thinking I might attach the coral to that. My  tuxedo urchins keep knocking it around and I end up finding it on the sand in the mornings. I love those things but darnit I wish they would quit moving stuff around. One of them still has a frag plug of beautiful zoa's that it's been totin' around. I've tried taking them off of the urchin but I end up smashing the zoa so I've just let him keep them....little monster. :glare:

Sure no problem, I think I still have Bills fragging shears so I'll bring them

have you tried using Aqua Mend to secure the rock into place so the Urchins can't move them?
